Financial Expertise is needed in divorce mediation to varying degrees. However, in certain cases a neutral finance and tax expert that both parties can trust is a must. These include mediation involving family and closely held businesses, complex trust issues, and the need for a qualified domestic relations order. For all instances requiring financial expertise, Attorney Stephen Peary brings his services to the mediation table.
Stephen Peary has extensive experience in legal and financial matters. He also serves as Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel for Phizzle, Inc., a venture-backed technology company focused on Edge Computing. Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel for FPX, LLC and its predecessor Firepond, Inc., a publicly-registered OnDemand SaaS-based software company delivering complex business solutions.
Stephen also served as Managing Director of Liverpool & London Protection and Indemnity Association, a mutual manager of marine assets and liability risks located in Liverpool, England and as Senior Vice President at PLM International, Inc., a publicly-registered company managing diversified investment portfolios.
Since 2003, he has served on the board of directors of NCIRE – The Veterans Health Research Institute located at the San Francisco Veterans Administration campus chairing its audit/finance committee. He also serves as chair of the Supervisory Committee for Vantage West Credit Union headquartered in Tucson, Arizona.
Mr. Peary holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois, a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University. He is admitted to practice law in Arizona, California, New York and Illinois.
Mediation can still be an affordable, private, and fair process even when the financial issues are highly complex.
